Curriculum

Curriculum Intent

“The curriculum sets out the aims of a programme of education. It also sets out the structure for those aims to be implemented, including the knowledge and skills to be gained at each stage. It enables the evaluation of pupils’ knowledge and skills against those expectations.”  Ofsted 2022

Curriculum Intent

Our school’s curriculum has been designed to meet the needs and abilities of all the pupils whom we serve. Our mission is rooted in ambition and aspirations so that our pupils are equipped with the qualifications, knowledge and skills to make lifelong choices.

The curriculum is broad and blends experiences gained in the pastoral curriculum, together with the academic and extracurricular, offering our pupils the opportunity to grow and flourish into well rounded individuals.

We are uncompromising in our belief that ‘Together we succeed’ and we are dedicated to ensuring the academic, social and emotional progress and achievement of all our pupils.

At Lea Manor High School, we work together to inspire every one of our pupils to flourish and to grow into young adults of good character, who understand the power of learning to shape a better future for themselves and for their communities. We commit to doing this in a safe, happy and joyful environment that embraces the best academic achievement for all and where each one of us has a keen sense of belonging to a school that values respect, kindness, aspiration and effort.

The School Values – The 3Ps

  • Pride: Pupils take pride in their learning, behaviour, and their role within the school community. This fosters a sense of ownership, confidence, and self-worth.
  • Productivity: Pupils make productive choices that support their own learning and the learning of others. They actively participate, engage positively, and take responsibility for making the most of every learning opportunity.
  • Progress: Pupils focus on both academic and personal growth. Their pride and productivity directly shape their progress, helping them to become motivated, resilient, and reflective learners.

The curriculum at Lea Manor will also enable pupils to:

  • Develop subject substantive and disciplinary knowledge so that they are able to know more, remember more and to do more.
  • Be aspirational in their actions.
  • Think deeply and critically.
  • Have high expectations in the way they conduct themselves and for their attendance.
